Well, this is just my opinion, but you got ripped off. It shouldn't take a dealer tech more than an hour, two tops, to get to the solenoid. I can see a private shop taking their time being careful working with unfamiliar components, but other than that, I can't see why it would cost that much. $200 in diagnostics, alone, is insane.
