It's a fair point you make, that having to reset the unit may imply it has wear at some point.

However, moving the end point will only make a difference to what revs the slider runs past the "bad" spot. Always assuming it is wear that caused the upset.

If it still runs past the bad spot as you are revving through 1,2 and 3 range it will still throw up the bad voltage and possibly throw a code. It might extend the life of the TPS, but it is so critical to engine tuning, I would still advise changing it to have the car run right. You might recover the cost of the new TPS in gas consumption saved.

However before buying a new one [they are over a hundred bucks!!] I would certainly be running that second TPS test to be sure there actually was a "bad" spot causing the problem.
