I was driving along the autoroute (Quebec equivalent of an interstate, only much rougher) the other day, at a steady 70mph or so, when the car sort of shuddered once and changed gears, out of D (od), into 3rd. I took the next exit, tried to shift manually, and the only thing that got any drive was 3rd. Certainly no 1st, no reverse, 2nd seemed like it was trying to go but couldn't. So I turned around and drove home quite a bit slower. The next day, it would go in second, and then shift into 3rd, but that is still it. Oil smells & looks fine, it has been re-built already, is the tranny done again, or could it be one of those duty solenoids? If so, any idea as to which it might be, and how to go about rectifying the situation? Thanks for any suggestions.
