Mine only open (no joke) about 2-3 inches outward so it's pretty close. The problem lies in the door panel. That curve where it connects to the actual dash board sticks out too far and would get in the way of the windsheild.
So if you made a flat boring door panel then it's definitely doable with probably the only modification being the latch.

what i love most in the SVX is the flowing interior of the dash/door... it's a shame to ruin it. I told you i can help you out, maybe design a modified fiber fender for your application?
, you definitely need to change it, or think of letting the door open an inch further to the outside... maybe?
