How do you lose a strut???

So I received my order of 87 suspension pieces (#88, and 89 are backordered)

The UPS guy brought this box that looked they kicked it all the way from the East coast to Wisconsin. The UPS guy said "It looks like they didn't pack it well enough. You might want to check it."

I checked all 87 pieces against the packing slip (while he complained about not getting his break yet today) and I was missing one front strut. How in the hell does someone not notice a two foot long strut fall out of a box???

So he gave me two choices, I could give him back the complete box and he will take it back (and I won't see it for 4-6 weeks, thus no work gets done on the car) or I can accept it as is and file a claim within 24 hours. Guess which I chose?
