Yes, under dash wiring most certainly involves the lights.
On the basis of logic, as the trouble appears to have started after the work you have done, surely you must have upset something, most likely a plug/socket connection. Back track on your work.
However this could be a coincidental fault as you so rightly surmise.
But tread the likely trail first.
