The stock SVX filter is slightly different than the stock Legacy filter, but either one will work and most aftermarket companies use the same filter for both applications.

And correct me if I'm wrong, but if you had an oil filter with a bypass valve couldn't you feel the oil filter after you're done driving and see if it is hot? If it was, you'd know that oil is still being cleaned and not bypassing a "full" filter wouldn't you?
