They were really thrifty! And "used" toilet paper as their filtering medium? Not sure about the timing, but I would probably just put "new" toilet paper in my oil filter.
On second thought, In our "out house" we would have had to borrow the sears catalog and find out a way to use it in the filter contraption.
I suppose that "used toilet paper thing" was the first example of "Recycling"?
