I would recommend that your wife also look at the Outback. I know they're far more ubiquitous, especially in some areas, but I think they're far more useful. You can fit another person in them, carry larger cargo, not have that cargo get wet...etc.
I thought the Baja was cool at first, but I'd much rather have an Outback...and I do.
I've seen people out caps over the bed - why not just buy an Outback?
