Absolutely Amazed!

In a prior post I wrote that my car made a whine which rose based on engine rpms (it sounded like a transmission problem) and that I had power steering fluid leaking (presumably foaming) out of the cap. I thought I'd try the O ring at the bottom of the power steering reservoir fix, but really, how in the world could this minor $1 fix correct the problem? I was really thinking, either power steering pump, or something worse. I figured $600 to fix at a minimum.

But to my amazement, the O ring fix was the problem. The whine has completely gone away. I'm blown away. I figure there is no way any mechanic could have correctly diagnosed this problem - they would have suggested a new power steering pump, and during its installation the may have fixed the O ring issue. When I have an issue with Subie Sales I usually first check this site, but this was the first time that something worked this well. Thought I would share this great experience.
