Tire pressure for 225/45/17

Hi guys. I have done tons of research, and can't come to a solid conclusion. I have 07 STi bbs wheels on my SVX, and I want to know the optimal tire pressure to run in them. They are Hancock V12's. The max rating is 50 psi, so I Just put them around 45. The door panel (I realize this should be taken with a grain of salt, considering I don't have the stock tire size) said 29/32 I think? So I put them at that. Much too soft. I will be putting them at 34f/32r today after work. Is that a good pressure? I want the best fuel economy and performance. I hate the squishy feeling low pressure gives around corners, almost like I'm peeling the tires from the rims. I know this is one of those topics such as synthetic or regular oil, etc., but I would like to hear what you guys run, mostly from those that have STi wheels.
