The WRX TR in that article scored lowest for a multitude of reasons other than raw power. Such as an old chassis which made rear occupants feel a bit crampt, understeer when adverse conditions weren't involved and being one of the highest priced with the least luxuries.

Most of these issues are currently being rectified with the new Impreza, interior being a bit wider with slightly heighted seats, engine that reaches peak 2k RPMs sooner and an audio/navigation/video player option with audio/video in/out. We may have qualms with its looks, lack of new tranny and other changes but we all agree the Impreza needed an upgrade. Hopefully now Subaru can build on it to make it even more state of the art.

Btw, now the new 177hp 2.5l makes the base Impreza able to go toe to toe with the "sportier" compacts such as the Sentra.
