Layout of the engine. The pistons in the H-6 (or flat 6) move along a horizontal axis (for lack of a better term). In the V-6 engine, they move up and down at an angle.
Also, due to the horizontal layout of the engine in an H-6, it can be mounted lower in the car resulting in a lower center of gravity.
A 350Z has a V6 while a 911 Carrera has an Flat 6 engine.
