I just got done swapping a 4.11 trans and rear diff. from a 1996 Legacy 2.5l sedan into my 92 svx. This swap was very basic. Everything fits perfectly. The wiring harness is a direct plug-n-play. Switching the LSD carrier from my SVX diff into the Legacy 4.11 housing was also very easy. You will find that your speedometer will read about 10% high after the swap. I do a lot of highway driving, and would not reccomend the 4.44 gears if you like to cruise at high speeds. With the 4.11 gears 3000 rpm is about 72 mph. The shifts are good and solid

The trans and diff were taken from the same wrecked car. The yard charged me $650 for the pair.

I'm really impressed with how quick the car now feels. Looking forward to drag-racing it against my wife's 2005 Outback XT.

Good luck with finding a transmission!
