I'd be quite concerned if in this kind of weather I was running at 210-212. 212 is the highest indie. verified flash point for ATF I could find (Mobil 1). After that temp the fluid breaks down very rapidly and no longer does its job. Switching to synthetics really won't affect the temp too much but usually will give you a higher flash point. Since you have normal fluid in there now I'd definately suggest Mobil since it is compatable with any and every fluid out there provided it is ATF II or III. Definately insulate that puppy to be sure your reading is somewhat correct though.
