Re: Trunk Fuel Resistor

PROBLEM SOLVED.....

Seven months later I think the car is back to being categorized as running. The replacement plugs arrived and I quickly popped the terminals from the old plug and put them into the new plug. Each gave a nice click into place and it looks exactly as the original.

oab_au - Regarding the female plug end on the fuel tank cap portion. When I replaced the fuel pump I made sure to check the condition of that plug. Everything checked out (visual and continuity with the internal tank components) so I believe that to be spared from the short.

My OCD is currently telling me to fix the in-line patch (See attached pictures) that I installed as I had to cut a small portion of the damaged connector so that I could install a new terminal. It works, its solid, but it is ugly. I did make sure to use marine heat-shrink along with electrical tape. I am not looking to make more work for myself but the best solution would be to re-run a new or at least mostly new portion of the harness from under the seat to the fuel tank. I have not yet gone under the car so that could determine if I decide to proceed based on how much work would be involved. If anyone has insight into that I would appreciate it.
