I agree that running the car without a rear driveshaft would be fine for the transmission. Power is delivered to the front wheels through the reduction gearset in any case, so that's fine.
Huck hardly needs my agreement, but I have a question. Does the prop shaft somehow provide the seal for the tail end of the transmission? I seem to remember, both times I've removed the prop shaft from a 4EAT, that a little ATF came out with it. Was this just down to worn seals?
