Tranmission Noise

Well this noise has been getting worse for the past year. It sounds similar to metal being shaved or machined. It sounds like sheet metal or something thin. It is an automatic transmission.

It only happens when the engine is braking the svx as when the foot comes off the gas. It does not happen in nuetral and not when acellerating.

More recently it has started to show up when driving over bumps at moderate speeds, 40 mph or less.

It is louder when down shifting on purpose, moving the selector from D to 3 to 2 to 1.

The noise follows the engine speed not the drive shafts.

Anybody have this problem before?
