Unhappy Speaking of paint...

Last year I took a day off work to clean the SVX thoroughly for the 10th Anniversary Meet. While washing the car (which I spent about three hours doing), I found that the entire surface of the car is covered in tiny black dots. It's not tar - nothing dissolves it. I suspect that it's paint from a visit to a body shop or some similar situation.

I'm not really sure what to do about it. You have to really look closely to see the specks, but when you do see them you realize that the car is literally covered in millions of them.

Is wet-sanding a really horrible thing to do? I'm going to have to get large portions of the car (maybe the entire thing) repainted someday, but I still don't want to do anything potentiall damaging.

Besides living with it (viable), what are my options?
