One of the German members I was in contact with regarding bringing in glass headlights. See THIS POST
Once he saw that I had the covers, he wanted them for the same reason that you did... to protect his precious glass headlights. He did not know about them until he saw mine and by then they were no longer available.
At one point, there was the possibility of am even exchange of a pair of new US-spec plastic headlights (with fog lights) for a pair of new German-spec glass headlights (without fog lights). They really like our fog lights.
