You sure? I seem to think that the lsi had the 2.2l in 96. Thought it was only the 2.5 for the GT and the Outcrap (with an auto). If it is a 2.5 run! Its the dohc version that as YT states is the best for gambling that you're head gasket will go.
If it is a 2.2 the biggest issue I've noticed is of course the auto tranny (make sure the tires match, fluid smells good but not new etc.) and rust in the rear panel above the wheelwell.
