Blame the Viking travel agency. Since the center of Iceland has Europe's largest glacier, naturally they named the island "Iceland"....
....then they discovered the other island. Well the idea of calling it "Icier-land" wasn't going to encourage settlers to come over, so they called it "Greenland".

So, that explains it. Joe Barker (owner from the lot from which I bought my SVX) was a Norweigian. When he replaced the tranny in my SVX, he couldn't pronounce the word, so, he said "Legacy" instead. Gah!
