Icy land
<Ah yes. Wonderful icy Greenland and green Iceland. Whassup wid dat?!?!>
Blame the Viking travel agency. Since the center of Iceland has Europe's largest glacier, naturally they named the island "Iceland"....
....then they discovered the other island. Well the idea of calling it "Icier-land" wasn't going to encourage settlers to come over, so they called it "Greenland".
....which is why you should never buy a used car from a Norweigian!
