Now that I have a few minutes ......
A big thank you to John for getting the ball rolling (as usual) for READING XI!! Great job, John (and Lady Di kept John in line and did much for the entire effort!! - Thanks, Diana!). But I don't understand why you, John, couldn't "control" the weather!!! After all, rain and 39 degrees Friday night and 30 MPH winds and upper 40's on Sat is a bit much, don't you think? :lol BUT John. You couldn't get to the meet on time on Fri?? !! Seriously, you REALLY expect us to believe that your cat ATE your keys / cell phone? I've heard stories before, but come on ..... That has got to be the best one ever!! Usually you are the first one there, but Josh, me and Rob beat to this year!!!
Seriously, great meet! Who cares if the weather was a bit "cool" part of the time. We had a GREAT Fri afternoon, not too bad Sat afternoon, great dinner at the 101 (as usual!!) Fri night, dinner at the hotel Sat night (even the bartender liked Larry's singing - (we are going to have to put him on radio so we can turn him off!! Really, Larry - you were "pretty good"
), great raffle time Sat night (the BIG prize going to Melis - and Larry thought HE won the BIG prize!!!), AND the warmth of INSIDE the hotel most any time during the meet! :rolleyes. And best of all - the PEOPLE attending. Super to see old friends (even Olu and his new bride came (without a SVX, but they came!!). And the spirited drive through the countryside lead by Dave in Ben's beautiful TVR he has restored was worth it to the few able to make the drive.
Good to see Young Tom (YT) in his NEW ride, the BMW M5 (wow! What a car!! - thanks for the drive, Tom!) too. Don't let Tom fool you, he still loves the SVX!! And Old Tom (OT) - no, I mean "original" Tom
- was in typical form with Lady Di keeping him straight (well, mostly!). And did you hear that "Ron and Cheryl are getting married"? Thought I would throw that out there about Ron accepting a proposal by Cheryl - but I really don't think Ron will "remember" it. But then again, I don't think Ron will remember much of anything from Sat night
And the "swap meet" part this year went fairly well - I think. Had the weather been better, it may have gone better. But Josh found parts he needed to get the car he bought locally on the road so he could drive it home
And I can't forget Jay showing up again with the Winabago!!
Boy was it nice as a "wind break" and a warm place to go night and day .......
So a great meet - thanks to all that attended - that's what it's all about!!
