Sorry Merz, I have never had one apart, mine is different, so I can't help there. I was just thinking that the drive shaft may have burred the tangs on the plates as it was pushed in, taking up the slack between the plates, to cause the binding. This can also happen if the clutch plates have not been kept in the same order as they came out. They wear and mate together, if they are mixed up, the pack will be thicker, may cause binding.
