i contest every ticket i get regardless on if i deserve them. usually you show up, they make you an offer and you get a lower fine.

for instance i got nailed doing 63 in a 30 (i think that was it anyway) ($145 ticket)

we negotiated to $72 and it dropped me just below having to report it to the insurance company.

i believe state troopers are required to offer mediation.

also you have the chance of the officer not showing up (2 trials on same date, etc).

also it delays the time for you to pay the ticket, usually takes 3 months. if your liable to lose your license this delays it some, and it also gives a chance to save the money to pay it.

i wouldnt bother getting a lawyer.

it also helps if you take a defensive driver course it gives you 3 points off your license, as well as its taken into consideration as well when you get tickets.

offering to take one of these courses will help you as well

i have never had to pay full price for a ticket, they are usually good about offers.

(for some odd reason i get alot of warnings but not alot of tickets....i dont know why but im glad it works that way)
