Don't forget increased insurance premiums

Consider, cost of the ticket may include insurance premium increases. In many cases this may be more costly than the up front costs alone, fine / court fees.

It may be worth your time and effort to try and plea to a non-moving violation that may be the same, "COST" as far as fine and court fees, but won't be an additional cost of X% per year on your insurance.

Again, this is your call, but in the long run the cost in insurance may well exceed the apparent up front expenses.

Just my two cents
