In respect of the QC which certainly has no "firm-up" action, an acknowledged expert within this forum has advised:-
" Within the solenoid “A” maps, TorqSigGood means that the signal for the ECU to reduce torque during gearshift is working correctly. If the signal stops working a different set of maps is used to cope with the full torque during the gearshift.
The QC fools the TCU into thinking that the torque signal is working, even though the QC has in effect cut the signal wire. Therefore as a result, although the ECU is calling for full torque through the shift, the TCU remains using the normal half-torque maps, instead of the full-torque maps. I believe that this will make the clutches wear out prematurely."
