Sorry, I was referring to the only contacts involved to the beginning point of the 8+ Volts. But I should have said it differently. (I knew what I was thinking!)
This voltage drop at the ignition switch absolutely blows my mind, totally

Trevor, could it be caused by a erratic malfunctioning diode?

In my case I replaced the ignition switch with a new one and did not change my inability to get the engine to turn over. The only contacts involved are in the ignition switch. In my case a new ignition switch.
