I know I've read that article before, Randy, but thanks for posting it. I found the section on the manual mode especially interesting. I was aware what the button did when depressed with the shifter in different positions, but this part I didn't know about:

"Additionally, on AWD vehicles, the TCU applies a more aggressive AWD map when the selector is in the 1st position, manual switch 'on' or 'off.'"

I wasn't aware that the manual button had anything to do with torque split, but I assume that this means it'll send more torque to the rear more quickly (obviously up to the maximum 50%).
