Any bearing can go bad. Statistics for the SVX show most bad bearings being rear bearings. My only experience is a right rear, done recently. Can currently hear a barely audible growl, don't know if is the same wheel, the other rear, or one of the front bearings.
If your car has over 60K, it would be good preventative maintenance to "open" the seal on each wheel, top up with the correct grease, and re-torque with a new and pretty cheap outer seal. I reckon the main cause of failure is distorted seals letting the lubricant away, with a lot of heat from the rotors then speeding up the process of destroying the dry bearing.
