Man, you sure are making a lot of progress!
Is possible the timing belt is on backwards but that is irrelevant! there are the same number of notches on the sides of the center mark. The center mark is just a smidgen off the center of the grove so if belt is on backwards that would compute. You are fine.
The air in transmission lines was virtually gone at startup!
Take a look back in the area of the oil pump and cam shafts for leaks and make sure the timing belt is virtually free of oil. Not a good mixture... oil and timing belt
