I've been building gliding models (mostly out of different kinds of paper) all my life, so I have a lot of the basic theory. I've never seen these SPAD planes before, but they really appeal to me because they're quick to build. Many possibilities for experimentation.
Could you tell me what electronics and engine you went with?
