A friend of mine with a 1998 Outback was told to do the figure 8 maneuver several times, in order to distribute the lubrication properly in the CV joints, I guess. Anyway, he did it, and it seemed to help the problem. The local Subaru dealer (Huntington, WV) told him about it.
