I couldn't even hazard a guesstimate. Prices here in Ireland would be different, and the time element may climb, and be costly, if the tranny has to come out.
Best advice, you run the diagnostic, and see what information that comes up with.
Then, armed with that info, and what I gave you above, approach your friend and see if he knows roughly what that work might cost.
You should also put on a query here asking who is the best person or firm in your area to approach for getting your tranny fixed. If you can get an intro or a referral from the guys on here, it could save you $$$s, and better still, be assured the techies know the tranny, and will do a good fix.
