It's metal. The reason I know was because I ATTEMPTED to drill mine out... but the heat caused the metal piece behind the bumper to heat up, and then it got REAL hot, and MELTED my freaking bumper. So now I have this gaping melted hole in my front bumper about the size of a nickel. Luckily, it's in the recessed portion of my bumper, so you can't see it.
