See, it's not something I'd ever researched.. Even in passing... and had no idea it would be in the 'thousands' range... I was thinking a few hundred, maybe up to a grand.

If you don't mind green door jams, under the hood, in the trunk, etc, and don't mind having a 50ft car (looks good from 50ft away), then a few hundred dollar paint job *might* work for you.
Don't skimp on $ for paint, you really get what you pay for! Painting the little bits like the door jam, under the hood, trunk, etc. take a lot of time. And as we all know time is money!
