A dissenting opinion: I replaced the antenna mast on my SVX over two years ago and it has worked perfectly ever since. And while it was a bit of a hassle because the nylon leader "cable" was broken, necessitating complete disassembly and rewinding... if I can do it, anyone can. There's how-to info here. If the motor works it makes no sense to replace the entire unit.
