If you need any transmission work done, I would also recommend NRG Automotive at Rydalmere, in Sydney.

I had them do some work on my transmission about a year ago, when I began to notice a loud whirring sound coming from the transmission above 30 km/h.

I thought that it was the front differential gears, but NRG correctly diagnosed it as a bad differential pinion shaft rear bearing, and replaced both the front and rear bearings on the shaft.

Thankfully, since the pinion shaft can be accessed by simply separating the front differential and centre differentials from the transmission itself, the job was fairly quick and easy (once the transmission had been removed from the car!)

Although NRG had never worked on an SVX before, they had worked on many Subaru 4EAT transmissions in other models, and I could tell that they knew what they were doing.
