Look, I'll agree with you that Toyota killed everything even remotely sporty in their line. I have an MR2, and I really wish they were still building them. There's nothing like it.

But Toyota is not 'basically at the helm of Subaru.' As I understand it, GM bought a 15% stake in Subaru some time ago. Subaru wanted money and GM wanted some of their technology. The two tried to build a car together and gave up. Once that failed, GM sold its 15% share in Subaru to Toyota. That's hardly a controlling interest.

Even if Toyota did buy more interest in Subaru and eventually controlled the company, I'd be much happier with that than if GM was doing the same. Can you imagine the Impreza and Cobalt sharing platforms? I bet GM could. Yuck.
