I ha dthe same experience as Nick with the back end transfer housing. I took awhile with a BF wood mallet to get it moving. I leave a few nuts / bolts in place but backed out several turns just to catch the thing if it should decide to come off fast. I have also thought about using wood chisels to open the split.
