FWIW, the light on my system does blink every two seconds when the button is on, but it won't go into programming mode. I'll pull the module, clean the contacts, etc.

One thing I wonder, tho. subaruparts.com and 1stsubaruparts.com both list alarm "upgrades" for around $250. I wonder if this is an updated module?
