You can't really ever fix it properly, I've replaced them like 3 times on my car, and the sash seal as well. They get dirty and scratch the glass. I just never used my windows anymore. The second time, I spent over six hours adjusting the glass so that it would make minimal contact with the stabilizer pads, and that helped alot, but it's not perfect. You'll notice that this is a common problem on Subarus, they can't seem to fix it. My 94 legacy did it, my 98 forester did it, etc.
