Someone brought up this morning using a USB to SSM adapter. But that it could be made with a regular old USB cable, does anyone have input on that claim?
Sounds dubious to me.

The ECU requires a 5 volt TTL signal. Somehow you need to convert the USB signal to the TTL signal. The normal way to do this is to use a special USB to TTL cable. These are not expensive, usually much cheaper than the Legacy Audio cable you have to attach to the end.

I have heard that some older cellphone USB cables output a 5v TTL signal.
