was it leaking from the slip join bit in the middle ?
my dad actually had to repair that bit it was oval instead of round
and it was leaking before we even put in on the car , so he used some form of silicone stuff to "hope" it provides enough of a seal

i will be getting a 5 speed swap as soon as i get my tax cheque
so i shouldn,t be driving with it on for very long
