ok, I had these EXACT issues with my 92. I almost threw a sledge hammer through my windshield when this started happening with mine because I could not figure it out for the frigging life of me.
I didnt have access to any parts SVX's at the time, so I couldnt swap out parts. What I ended up doing to get mine running (over a year ago now) I put a fuel pump in it out of a 98 Outback GT. Not the entire fuel pump assembly, just the fuel pump. keep in mind I installed a used pump which I dont recommend, but if ur broke it works just fine
All problems cured. No more random stuttering, random slowdowns (where the car slightly slows down no matter how far you put the pedal to the floor), no dying, no more leaving me stranded in Alaska in February.
Turbone - What kind of fuel pressures are you getting? and when the car dies is it maintaining fuel pressure or losing?
I don't think it would be the MAF causing it to die and not start. and if it did, you would be able to unplug the MAF and restart the car and drive (it will run poopy with it unplugged, but it will drive) When my MAF died (2x now) it would make the car stutter and do weird high RPM idles (like a cold start warmup RPM 1500-1800 RPM)
