No mod is necessary. Just clean up the pads and keep the windows clean, avoiding running them up and down when they're dirty. It's odd that Nik's are scratching the
inside of the glass, as every one I've seen was on the outside.
We just swapped the badly scratched driver side window in my '97 for the much better piece from my '93, and the hardest part was getting the window to seal correctly as it closed fully. Two people are almost a must, with one holding the glass firmly in position while the attachments are tightened. My $.02.
