Maybe someone else will chime in on this (by other people I mean someone that actually has a clue and I am not implying anything about you Blacky). What you are saying, Blacky, may be true of most Subarus but the OBD2 SVXs have two different part numbers for the front and rear O2 sensors and Bosch only has one replacement part number for front and back. I assumed the Bosch replacement part has a long enough cable to be used in either location. But that would also imply that the part is not the same as the OE part in the SVX or, at the very least, is only the same as the O2 sensor with the longer cable.

There aren't a lot of OBD2 SVXs out there but it would be good to hear from other 96 and 97 owners to see what replacements they have used for sensor 3 and what their experience has been.
