The date on the sticker on the strut with the part number is the MFG date. My 97 has the same type stickers with mfg dates of 96 (diff mfg months for front and rear struts). AND NO ONE CAN TELL ME THAT THIS IS A PACKED DATE--particularly after I took these off to prove my point
. The dates that Geoff and I are referring to are on the strut itself and not on the package.
The only things I find actually stamped in the metal on the struts are Subaru, Showa and Caution Do Not Heat, Do Not Open
