Ok all done w the adjuster. Her estimate, $1800. Nevada law says if the cost of the repairs exceeds 65% of the vehicles value, they are required to total it. KBB for my car, $2495 in fair, $2995 in good condition. Mine is right in the middle of that, so about $2750. 1800/2750 = 65.5%.
So in all honesty I could argue that with the work I have done on the engine and exhaust, the car could be worth $2900, making the damage 62%. This is close enough to argue against totaling my car out right? What else could I tell this claims rep when they call to make them reconsider totaling my car (which means less money for me to fix it since they deduct for keeping the car).
